Our Clients

AI Voice Agent Development Services

Ten service lines cover the whole of a voice deployment, from the first call flow to the compliance branching that keeps an American dialler out of trouble. Each one lists what it is, what it gets you and where US businesses are putting it to work.

Inbound Voice Agents

Agents that pick up on the first ring, at 2am and during the Monday spike alike. They identify the caller, answer from your own systems and finish the task rather than reading a menu. The engineering behind them is covered on our AI voice agent development page.

Benefits

  • No hold queue, no voicemail, no missed revenue after hours
  • Answers from live system data, not a static script
  • Warm transfer with the transcript when a human is needed
  • Every call transcribed, tagged and searchable

Business use cases

  • After-hours reception for clinics and law firms
  • Order and delivery status without an agent
  • Policy, balance and account enquiries
  • Overflow cover when the queue exceeds SLA

Outbound Voice Agents

Campaign calling that respects the rules American diallers actually operate under: consent on record, suppression checked before dialling, calling windows enforced per time zone rather than per head office.

Benefits

  • Consent and Do Not Call checks run before the call connects
  • Calling windows enforced against the caller's own time zone
  • Voicemail detection, so the agent leaves a message instead of dead air
  • Outcome written back to the CRM the moment the call ends

Business use cases

  • Appointment reminders and confirmations
  • Renewal, refill and re-order prompts
  • Payment reminders with a compliant script
  • Post-service satisfaction follow-ups

Benefits

  • Greets and routes by intent, not by extension number
  • Books against live calendar availability
  • Escalation rules set by policy, not left to the model
  • Consistent greeting and disclosure on every call

Business use cases

  • Handles reschedules and cancellations, not just new bookings
  • Confirmation by SMS or email before the call ends
  • Cuts no-shows by confirming in the caller's own words

  • Upsell and substitution logic your team controls
  • Order written straight into the POS or ERP

One agent, several languages, chosen automatically from what the caller says. For a large part of the US caller base this is the difference between a resolved call and an abandoned one.

Benefits

  • Language detected in the opening seconds, no menu required
  • Spanish standard, plus Mandarin, Tagalog, Vietnamese and Haitian Creole
  • Tested against accented English, where most systems fail
  • One knowledge base behind every language

Voice Analytics & Call QA

Every call becomes structured data: what was asked, what was resolved, where the agent hesitated and which scripts are quietly losing you customers.

Benefits

  • 100% of calls scored, not a 2% manual sample
  • Objection and churn signals surfaced by theme
  • Compliance phrases verified on every recorded call
  • Findings fed back into the agent each sprint

  • A2P 10DLC and toll-free verification handled
  • Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho, Zendesk and ServiceNow writeback

Voice Compliance Engineering

Consent, disclosure and recording law built into the call flow rather than added as a disclaimer. This is the work that stops a US voice deployment becoming a legal problem.

Benefits

  • Recording disclosure branches on the caller's state
  • Consent captured, timestamped and retrievable
  • AI disclosure at the top of the call
  • Immutable audit log for every call and transfer

Business use cases

  • All-party consent states such as CA, FL, PA and WA
  • TCPA-governed outbound campaigns
  • HIPAA-covered patient communication

What actually makes a voice agent work on a real phone line

A demo only has to sound good once. A production line has to hold up against hold music, crosstalk, accents, bad reception and callers who change their mind mid-sentence. These are the nine layers we engineer for every US deployment.

Speech Recognition

Streaming transcription tuned to your vocabulary: drug names, part numbers, policy codes and the way your callers actually pronounce them. Accented English is tested explicitly, because that is where most voice systems quietly fail.

Turn Taking & Barge-In

Knowing when the caller has finished, and letting them interrupt. Get this wrong and the agent talks over people, which callers forgive far less readily than a wrong answer.

Speech Synthesis

A voice chosen with you in a listening session, not picked from a default. Pronunciation lexicons cover your brand, product and clinician names so nothing is mangled on air.

Dialogue & Reasoning

The language model that decides what to say and which tool to call, constrained by your business rules so it cannot improvise a price, a diagnosis or a policy exception.

Telephony Infrastructure

SIP trunks, carrier routing, A2P 10DLC registration and STIR/SHAKEN attestation, so your calls connect and are not marked Spam Likely on the handset.

System Integration

Reading and writing to the CRM, EHR, calendar, POS or ERP mid-call. Without this the agent is an answering machine with better manners.

Consent & Compliance

Recording disclosure that branches by state, consent captured and timestamped, suppression checked before dialling, and an audit record for every call.

Escalation & Handoff

Warm transfer with the transcript attached, plus hard rules on what the agent must never attempt alone. Clinical, legal and financial calls escalate by policy.

Evaluation & Monitoring

Regression suites built from your own recordings, latency and containment tracked per intent, and drift caught before your customers report it.

Everything around the voice agent, from one accountable team

A voice agent rarely arrives alone. It needs a CRM to write to, a dashboard someone reads and a support contract when a carrier changes something at 3am. Keep scrolling: each row stacks over the last.

Where voice agents earn their keep in regulated US sectors

Every sector has calls it cannot afford to miss and calls software must never handle alone. Knowing the difference is the job. Use the arrows to explore all eight sectors.

Governance

Built for the rules that govern calling in America

A voice agent is a caller, and US law regulates callers closely. Our healthcare voice agent case study shows how this plays out on a HIPAA-covered line. Consent, disclosure, recording and caller ID are engineering requirements here, not paperwork bolted on before launch. We build them into the call flow; your counsel signs off the script before it dials. We are engineers, not your attorneys.

Voice Stack

The voice stack, layer by layer

A voice agent is six systems in a trench coat, and any one of them can ruin a call. We keep each layer swappable, because the speech vendor you pick this year will not be the cheapest or the fastest next year. See our AI voice agent development and AI agent development services for the work either side of the call.

Streaming transcription is where a call is won or lost. We tune vocabulary to your domain and test against accented English and background noise.

Use Cases

What US businesses actually put on the phone

Twelve call types that come up again and again across American businesses. Each is a real workflow with a cost per call attached, which is the test we apply before recommending any of them. Explore AI voice agent development, AI agent development and AI chatbot development for the underlying builds.

Healthcare

After-Hours Patient Line

Takes intake calls overnight, books into the real schedule and routes anything clinical to the on-call clinician. Recording disclosure follows the caller's state.

Professional services

AI Voice Receptionist

Answers, qualifies and books while your front desk is on another call. Conflict-check questions run before a legal intake goes any further.

Sales

Speed-to-Lead Callback

Calls a new web lead inside 60 seconds, qualifies against your criteria and books the rep. Consent is captured before anything is dialled again.

Collections

Payment Reminder Calls

Runs a compliant reminder script inside legal calling windows, takes payment through a PCI path and stops on request, permanently.

Logistics

Delivery Window Confirmation

Confirms or reschedules the slot the day before, cutting failed deliveries without adding headcount to the dispatch desk.

Retail

Phone Order Taking

Takes the order, handles substitutions and writes it into the POS. Handles accents, background noise and half-finished sentences.

Insurance

First Notice of Loss

Captures the claim details by phone at 2am, opens the file and tells the caller what happens next and when.

Field service

Technician Dispatch Calls

Confirms crews, captures exceptions from the field and reschedules jobs when a site goes down.

Customer experience

Tier-One Support Line

Resolves the routine end to end and warm-transfers the rest with the transcript attached, so nobody repeats themselves.

Hospitality

Reservations & Changes

Books, moves and cancels against live availability, in the caller's language, without a hold queue.

Member services

Renewal & Retention Calls

Reaches members before a lapse, answers the objection on the call and books a human when the save is worth one.

Operations

Outbound Survey & Follow-Up

Runs post-service follow-ups at a volume no team would staff, and themes the answers instead of dumping them in a spreadsheet.

Gain a Competitive Edge

Why Choose Appther

Plenty of agencies can demo a voice agent that sounds impressive on a quiet line. Fewer will tell you which calls it should not take, then stay on the system once real callers start finding the edges. Ten reasons American businesses keep the engagement going.

01

Voice AI Specialists

Streaming speech recognition, turn taking, barge-in, telephony and the model layer, all in house. Voice is its own discipline: a team that has only shipped chatbots will learn that on your phone line, at your expense.

02

Latency as a Requirement

We hold response time under 800 milliseconds as a build target, not an aspiration. Past about a second a caller assumes the call has dropped, and no amount of clever dialogue recovers that.

03

Shadow Mode Before Go-Live

Your agent listens to real calls and drafts responses nobody hears, for as long as it takes to build confidence. You see exactly how it would have handled last week before a single customer meets it.

04

Compliance Built In

TCPA consent, state recording disclosure, STIR/SHAKEN and 10DLC registration are designed into the call flow from sprint one. Retrofitting this after launch is expensive and sometimes impossible.

05

Escalation by Policy

We agree up front what the agent must never handle alone, and enforce it in code rather than leaving it to the model's judgement. Clinical, legal and financial calls go to a human by rule.

06

Tested on Your Real Calls

Regression suites are built from recordings of your own lines, including the difficult ones: accents, noise, interruptions and callers who change their mind halfway through.

07

Portable by Design

Speech, model and telephony vendors sit behind one interface. When a provider raises prices or a faster one appears, you swap a layer instead of rebuilding the agent.

08

Honest About Fit

Some call types should not be automated, and we will say so during discovery rather than after you have paid for it. A short list you trust beats a long list that fails on air.

09

US Hours, Real Overlap

ET, CT, MT and PT coverage with a local-time project manager. When a carrier changes something at 3am, somebody who knows your deployment picks up.

10

Tuning After Launch

Voice agents drift as your products, prices and callers change. Ongoing packages cover script tuning, latency monitoring and carrier troubleshooting, not just uptime.

Engagement Models

Four ways to work with us

Not every voice project needs the same shape of team. Pick the model that matches your stage, budget and internal capacity, and move between them as the work changes. Most start as a fixed-price pilot on one call type and become a dedicated team once the numbers hold.

Dedicated Team

A full-time team of voice engineers, conversation designers and QA with a US-hours project manager, working on nothing but your call flows and no attention split across other clients.

  • Full-Time, Not Shared
  • Sprint Reviews in Your Timezone
  • Scale Up or Down

Fixed Cost

One call type, defined scope, agreed milestones and one USD price signed off before development starts. The usual way a first voice pilot gets funded.

  • Scope Locked Up Front
  • Milestone Billing
  • No Change-Order Surprises

Team Augmentation

Named engineers who join your standups, your repo and your board. You keep ownership of the roadmap and we fill the skills your team does not have in-house.

  • Vetted AI & ML Engineers
  • Your Process, Your Tooling
  • Ramp Up in Days

AI Consulting

A short engagement that identifies which workflows are worth automating, what they are worth and what it takes to get there, before you commit a development budget.

  • Opportunity Assessment
  • Architecture & Model Strategy
  • A Costed Roadmap You Own

Our Process

AI Voice Agent Development Process

Ten stages take a voice agent from your existing call recordings to a line customers use without thinking about it. Every stage ends in something you can listen to or hold us to, so you are never asked to approve progress you cannot hear.

Week 1

Call Audit and Opportunity Mapping

Which of your call types are worth automating, and what each one costs you today.

What we doWe listen to a sample of your real recordings and read the call logs, then group calls by intent, length, resolution rate and cost. The ones that are frequent, repetitive and low-risk go on the shortlist. The ones needing judgement stay with your team, and we say so plainly.
DeliverablesCall-type register with volume and cost per type, a shortlist of two to four candidates, and a written recommendation on which line to start with.
Week 1–2

Compliance and Consent Design

What the agent may say, record and dial before a line of code is written.

What we doWe map your callers by state, decide where all-party recording consent applies, design the disclosure and consent capture, and check your outbound plans against TCPA and Do Not Call obligations. Your counsel reviews the script here, not after launch.
DeliverablesConsent and disclosure design, a state-by-state recording matrix, dialling rules, and a script your legal team has signed off.
Week 2–3

Conversation Design

The actual words, and what happens when the caller says something unexpected.

What we doCall flows are written from your recordings, so the agent uses the phrasing your callers already respond to. We define persona, pace, confirmation style, repair strategies when the agent mishears, and the hard escalation rules.
DeliverablesAnnotated call flows for every intent, escalation policy, and a persona and tone guide agreed with your team.
Week 3–4

Voice and Speech Tuning

Choosing the voice, and teaching the agent your vocabulary.

What we doA listening session with your team picks the text-to-speech voice. We then build pronunciation lexicons for brand, product, clinician and place names, and tune speech recognition against accented English and the noise your callers actually call from.
DeliverablesSelected voice with sign-off, a domain pronunciation lexicon, and a transcription accuracy baseline measured on your own recordings.
Week 4–7

Telephony and Carrier Setup

Making sure the call connects and is not marked Spam Likely.

What we doNumbers provisioned or ported, SIP trunks configured, A2P 10DLC brand and campaign registration filed, STIR/SHAKEN attestation set up and branded caller ID applied where your carriers support it.
DeliverablesLive numbers, carrier configuration, completed 10DLC and toll-free registration, and a spam-label check across major carriers.
Week 5–9

Agent Build and Integration

The agent itself, and the systems it has to read from and write to.

What we doWe build the orchestration layer: turn taking, barge-in, tool calls, retries and failover. Then the integrations, so the agent reads live availability from your calendar or EHR and writes structured outcomes back to the CRM mid-call.
DeliverablesWorking agent in a test environment, integration test results, and a latency report against the sub-second target.
Week 8–11

Shadow Mode

The agent listens to real calls and answers nobody, so you can check its work.

What we doThe agent runs alongside your team on live calls, drafting the response it would have given without any caller hearing it. You review side by side where it would have been right, wrong or dangerously confident.
DeliverablesShadow-mode report with containment and accuracy per intent, a list of failure patterns, and the fixes applied before go-live.
Week 10–13

Testing and Regression Suites

Proving it holds up on the calls that usually break voice systems.

What we doAutomated call suites replay difficult recordings from your own lines: heavy accents, background noise, interruptions, callers changing their mind and deliberate attempts to confuse the agent. Compliance phrases are verified on every run.
DeliverablesRegression suite tied to your CI pipeline, a pass report per intent, and a documented list of known limits.
Week 12–16

Staged Launch

Live, but on a slice of traffic you control.

What we doWe start with a percentage of calls or a single call type, watch containment, transfer rate and caller sentiment daily, and widen only when the numbers hold. A one-switch rollback stays available throughout.
DeliverablesLive agent on production traffic, a daily performance dashboard, and a documented rollback procedure.
Ongoing

Tuning, Monitoring and Reporting

Keeping it good as your products, prices and callers change.

What we doCalls are scored continuously, drift is caught before customers report it, and scripts are tuned each sprint against what callers actually said. Carrier issues and spam labelling are monitored rather than discovered.
DeliverablesMonthly performance report, tuning changelog, latency and containment trends, and a standing ET/PT support channel.

FAQs

AI voice agent FAQs from US clients

Are AI voice agents legal for outbound calls in the USA?+

Outbound calling in the US is governed by the TCPA, FCC rules and state law rather than by whether the caller is a person or software. In February 2024 the FCC confirmed that AI-generated voices in robocalls count as artificial voices under the TCPA, which means prior express consent, honouring the National Do Not Call Registry and calling-window rules all still apply. We build the consent record, suppression lists, calling windows and disclosure into the agent, and your counsel signs off on the call flow before it dials. We are engineers, not your attorneys.

Do you handle TCPA and state call-recording consent?+

Yes. Consent is a design input, not a disclaimer. The agent captures and timestamps consent, checks it against your suppression and Do Not Call lists before dialling, and applies the right recording disclosure per state. Eleven states including California, Florida, Pennsylvania and Washington require all-party consent for recording, so the agent branches on the caller's state rather than reading one script nationwide. Every call leaves an audit record you can produce later.

How natural do the voice agents sound, and how fast do they respond?+

We target under 800 milliseconds from the caller finishing a sentence to the agent starting its reply, because past roughly a second a caller assumes the line has dropped. That comes from streaming speech recognition, barge-in support so the caller can interrupt, and a text-to-speech voice chosen with you during a listening session. The agent identifies itself as an AI assistant at the start of the call.

Can the voice agent connect to our CRM, EHR or scheduling system?+

Yes, and that is usually where the value is. We integrate with Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho, ServiceNow, Zendesk, Epic and Cerner via FHIR, Google and Outlook calendars, and custom systems over API. The agent reads live availability, writes the outcome back and leaves a structured summary on the record, so nobody retypes a call afterwards.

What happens when the caller wants a human?+

The agent transfers, with context. Any caller who asks for a person, becomes distressed, or raises something outside the agent's scope is warm-transferred to your team along with a written summary and the transcript so far, so the customer never repeats themselves. We also set hard escalation rules up front: anything clinical, legal, financial or contractual goes to a human by policy, not by the model's judgement.

How much does an AI voice agent cost in the USA?+

A single-purpose agent handling one call type, such as booking or order status, typically runs 18,000 to 35,000 US dollars to build. A multi-intent agent with CRM writeback, payment handling and compliance branching usually falls between 45,000 and 90,000 US dollars. Running costs are per minute of call time across telephony, speech recognition, the model and text to speech, and we model that against your actual call volume before you commit. You get a fixed-price USD scope after discovery.

How long does it take to launch an AI voice agent?+

A focused pilot on one call type is usually live in 6 to 8 weeks, including a shadow-mode period where the agent listens to real calls without answering them. A full production rollout with multiple intents, integrations and compliance branching runs 12 to 16 weeks. Sprint one starts within 7 days of signing.

Do you support Spanish and other languages for US callers?+

Yes. Spanish is standard for most US deployments, and we also build agents that handle Mandarin, Tagalog, Vietnamese and Haitian Creole depending on your caller base. The agent detects the language in the first few seconds and switches, rather than making the caller pick from a menu. Each language is tested against real call recordings from your own lines, including accented English, which is where most voice systems actually fail.
