Odoo Development Company · United Kingdom

Odoo development company in the UK

Odoo ERP implemented the way a British business actually runs: VAT configured against a return you have already filed through Making Tax Digital, HMRC-ready payroll handled, Sage, Xero or QuickBooks history brought across, and a fixed price in pounds before anyone writes a line of code. Engineering from Noida, India, on UK working hours.

Why Appther

An Odoo team that has filed a VAT return from it

Most Odoo firms in the UK are either a local partner billing £85 to £160 an hour, or an offshore shop that has never logged into an HMRC gateway. We are set up to be neither.

  • Compliance is tested, not promisedBefore go-live we re-run a VAT quarter you have already submitted through Making Tax Digital in the new Odoo configuration. If the two do not agree to the penny, we have not finished.
  • Fixed price in poundsScope, price and go-live date are written down before the build starts. The offshore delivery model is what lets that price hold without staffing the project with juniors.
  • Your hours, not oursStand-ups, UAT and support run on UK time. When a purchase order will not confirm at 8am in Manchester, someone answers at 8am in Manchester.
  • AI is already in the toolkitForecasting, invoice OCR and copilots ship as native Odoo modules through our Odoo AI integration practice, upgrade-safe and inside your own tenancy.
Odoo Services

Odoo services for UK businesses

Six ways we work with Odoo. Most UK engagements start with the second or third and grow from there. Every line links to its detailed guide, and all of it sits inside our Odoo ERP services practice.

01

Odoo ERP Implementation

Accounting, sales, purchasing, stock and CRM configured for how your business trades, on Community or Enterprise.

  • UK chart of accounts and VAT codes from day one
  • Multi-company and multi-warehouse where you need it
  • Role-based access mapped to your org chart
  • Training for the people who will live in it
Scope an Implementation
02

Sage, Xero & QuickBooks to Odoo Migration

For businesses that have outgrown an accounting package and need stock, jobs or manufacturing on the same ledger.

  • Contacts, open invoices, bills and opening balances
  • Historical nominal ledger kept for as many years as you want
  • Parallel quarter so the first VAT return reconciles
  • Open Banking feeds reconnected on cut-over day
Plan a Migration
03

Custom Odoo Module Development

When a standard app almost fits. Written in Python and XML as proper installable modules, so an upgrade never undoes the work.

  • Industry workflows: batches, lots, jobs, CIS deductions
  • Custom reports your board actually reads
  • Portals for customers, members or franchisees
  • No core patches, ever
Discuss a Module
04

Odoo Integrations

The systems around Odoo that UK businesses already depend on, connected properly rather than through a spreadsheet export.

  • Shopify, WooCommerce, Amazon UK and eBay orders
  • Royal Mail, DPD, Evri and 3PL carriers
  • GoCardless, Stripe, Open Banking feeds and Companies House lookups
  • Payroll, ePOS and scanner hardware on the floor

05

Odoo Upgrade & Version Migration

Moving from Odoo 14, 15, 16 or 17 to 19 without losing the customisations that made the old version yours. See our migration guide.

  • Custom module audit and rewrite where needed
  • Test upgrade on a copy, then a rehearsed cut-over
  • Data validation against the old instance
  • Timed for your quiet week, not ours
Assess an Upgrade
06

Support & Managed Hosting

After go-live: a named engineer, a UK-hours response window and hosting in a UK region if your data cannot leave the country.

  • AWS London or Azure UK South, in your account
  • Backups, monitoring and patching handled
  • Year-end and VAT-quarter support included
  • Monthly retainer, cancel with 30 days' notice

Built for UK Compliance

The UK details that decide whether Odoo works

An Odoo instance can be technically perfect and still fail its first VAT quarter in the UK. These six areas are where that failure usually starts, so each is a named line on our implementation checklist rather than a footnote.

VAT and Making Tax Digital

Standard, reduced, zero-rated and exempt VAT codes on a UK chart of accounts, the flat-rate or cash accounting scheme if you use one, the reverse charge for construction services, and MTD-compatible VAT returns submitted to HMRC from Odoo. Tested against a return you have already filed.

Payroll and HMRC RTI

Odoo's UK payroll localisation with Real Time Information submissions, PAYE, National Insurance and auto-enrolment pensions, or a clean sync from the payroll platform you already trust. The cheaper of the two at your headcount is the one we recommend.

Invoicing, CIS and Companies House

VAT invoices laid out the way HMRC expects, Construction Industry Scheme deductions where you work in construction, Companies House lookups on new customers and suppliers, and e-invoicing readiness for the public-sector buyers who require it.

Data residency

Odoo deployed in AWS London or Azure UK South inside your own cloud account when the data cannot leave the country, with backups that stay in region. Where residency is not a constraint, Odoo.sh or Odoo Online are the cheaper options.

UK GDPR and the ICO

Access rules scoped to UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, an audit trail on personal data, and a 72-hour breach-notification path to the ICO agreed before go-live. We sign an NDA before discovery starts, without being asked.

Financial year and year-end

A 6 April tax year or your own company year-end, fiscal periods and lock dates set correctly, and support cover through year-end and every VAT quarter when the questions come in. Your accountant gets their own login and the reports they actually ask for.

What Odoo implementation costs in the UK

Round figures so you can budget before the first call. The precise figure is put in writing after scoping and only changes if the scope changes. Odoo licensing is billed separately by Odoo. Our migration guide and ERP comparison break the decisions down.

A CRM-only project sits at £3,500 to £22,000 depending on pipeline complexity. UK Odoo partners typically bill £85 to £160 an hour on time and materials; we quote fixed. Every custom module and its source code is yours, and it stays installed if you ever move on from us.

How We Implement

From first call to first VAT return

Five stages, each ending in something you can log into and check. The first costs nothing and the last is the one most Odoo projects forget.

1
Week 1 · Free

Scoping Call & Fit Check

Half an hour on how you trade today, where the friction is and whether Odoo is genuinely the right fit. You leave with a written scope and a fixed price in pounds.

2
Weeks 1-2

Design Around Your Workflows

We map every process from quote to cash and from purchase to pay, separate what Odoo covers out of the box from what needs configuring, and sign off the chart of accounts with your accountant.

3
Weeks 2-10

Configure, Build & Migrate

Localisation first, then modules, then custom work, then your Sage, Xero or QuickBooks data, in weekly sprints you can log into and test against real transactions.

4
Final 2 weeks

Parallel Run & VAT Reconciliation

A submitted VAT quarter is re-run through Odoo and reconciled to the penny. Your people run both systems side by side for two weeks and sign off before the old one is retired.

5
Go-live + support

Cut-over, Training & Year-End Cover

Go-live on the date we agreed, on-the-floor training for each role, and a named engineer on UK hours through your first VAT quarter and year-end.

ERP at a scale most UK partners never see

A 7,000-tonne-a-day sugar mill, run end to end on Odoo

One Odoo instance runs cane procurement, the weighbridge, grower payments, production yields and finance for a mill that crushes 7,000 tonnes of cane a day. A seasonal, multi-site agribusiness at that scale is the closest thing to what an Enterprise-tier Sage or Dynamics replacement looks like for a UK manufacturer.

Odoo vs the Alternatives

Odoo against what UK SMEs usually outgrow

Sage 50, Xero and QuickBooks are excellent accounting packages. The problem starts when stock, jobs or production have to live somewhere else. NetSuite and Dynamics 365 solve that at a price most mid-sized UK businesses do not want to pay.

FAQ

Questions UK businesses ask before choosing Odoo

No. We would rather tell you that on the first page than let you find out on the first invoice. Appther is an independent implementation firm whose Odoo developers hold Odoo certifications. Partner tier tells you how much Odoo Enterprise a firm has sold; it does not tell you whether your VAT return will reconcile. Judge us on references and a scoped fixed quote rather than a badge.
Yes. We map your chart of accounts to the UK Odoo localisation, bring across contacts, open invoices and bills, opening balances and as much historical nominal ledger as you want to keep, then run a parallel quarter so your first VAT return out of Odoo matches what Sage, Xero or QuickBooks would have produced before you switch off the old system.
Yes. Odoo's UK localisation ships the standard, reduced, zero-rated and exempt VAT codes and an MTD-compatible VAT return that submits to HMRC. We configure it for your scheme, whether standard, flat rate or cash accounting, set up the reverse charge where construction services apply, and test it against a return you have already filed before go-live.
Two options. Odoo's UK payroll localisation supports RTI submissions, PAYE, National Insurance and auto-enrolment pensions, and we can configure it for you. Or, if your team is settled on an existing payroll platform, we keep it and sync the journals into Odoo. We will recommend whichever works out cheaper at your headcount.
Wherever you need it to be. When UK residency matters we deploy Odoo in AWS London or Azure UK South inside your own cloud account, with backups that stay in region and access rules scoped to UK GDPR. When it does not, Odoo.sh or Odoo Online cost less to run. Either way the database, the custom modules and the source belong to you.
A CRM-only project runs £3,500 to £22,000. A Starter implementation of one or two modules is £5,000 to £15,000. A Growth rollout replacing Sage, Xero or QuickBooks with accounting, stock, sales and purchasing on one ledger is £15,000 to £45,000. Multi-entity, manufacturing or integration-heavy Enterprise projects start at £45,000. Every figure is confirmed in writing after scoping and does not move unless the scope does.
Community is free and covers accounting, sales, purchasing, stock and CRM well for many UK SMEs. Enterprise adds hosted upgrades, the mobile apps, MRP and quality, field service, Studio and the UK payroll localisation, at roughly £20 to £35 per user per month. We recommend the cheaper edition that does the job and tell you what you would give up.
Engineering is delivered from Noida, India, with project and support hours set to UK time, so your stand-ups, UAT and escalations happen inside your working day. Appther has no UK office; our registered entities are in the United States, India and Australia. Contracts and invoices are in pounds.
