Getting a cardiologist to actually read it is the bottleneck, and in many regions there simply are not enough specialists within reach. KALBI Health came to Appther with one goal: let a patient capture an ECG at home and get a trustworthy, signed interpretation back fast, without a clinic visit.

What is a telecardiology app?+

A telecardiology app lets a patient send heart data, most often an ECG tracing, to a cardiologist remotely and receive a clinical interpretation without an in-person visit. KALBI uses the store-and-forward model: the patient uploads the tracing with their symptoms, the cardiologist reads it on a web portal when they pick up the case, and a signed report returns to the app.

Does KALBI diagnose the ECG automatically with AI?+

No. Every interpretation in KALBI is written and signed by a board-certified cardiologist. Speech-to-text is used only to turn the doctor's spoken findings into editable text, which they review and correct before signing. The platform never auto-analyses the tracing or produces a diagnosis on its own.

How do you make a healthcare app HIPAA compliant?+

HIPAA compliance is an architecture decision, not a feature added late. For KALBI we collected only the minimum necessary PHI, encrypted data in transit with TLS and at rest with AES-256, put role-based access in front of every clinical record, enforced two-factor authentication for clinicians, and wrote an immutable audit log entry for every view, edit and signature.

Why is the patient app native iOS and the doctor tool a web portal?+

The two audiences work very differently. Patients capture ECG photos on a phone, so a native iOS app gives them the camera quality, biometric sign-in and push notifications they need. Cardiologists read tracings on large screens between clinics, so a browser-based reading workstation with a zoomable full-resolution viewer suits them better and needs no install.

How long does it take to build a telecardiology platform like this?+
